Roles and Responsibilities
• Ensure implementation of safe systems of work and compliance with company HSE policies, local regulations, and international standards. • Conduct pre-tour safety meetings with clients, supervisors, and contractors to communicate operational risks and safety controls. • Deliver HSE inductions and on-site safety training for rig crew, contractors, and visitors. • Lead and facilitate daily Toolbox Talks (TBTs), ART, and hazard identification sessions prior to operations. • Implement and monitor the Permit to Work (PTW) system, including JSA and TRIC for all critical and non-routine tasks. • Actively supervise high-risk activities such as hot work, cold work, confined space entry, work at height, lifting & rigging, and rig moves. • Conduct risk assessments and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for drilling, tripping, casing, and completion activities. • Monitor and ensure safe execution of day-to-day drilling operations from spud to well completion. • Coordinate with drilling crews and service companies to maintain safe operational practices on the rig floor and well site. • Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly HSE inspections of rig equipment, camp facilities, and operational areas. • Ensure inspection, maintenance, and readiness of firefighting equipment, H2S safety equipment, machinery, and emergency response tools. • Conduct and lead emergency response drills, including H2S, fire, kick/blowout, rescue at height, and first-aid/man-down scenarios. • Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions through the incident reporting system (CATS) and follow up on corrective actions. • Participate in accident/incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive measures. • Support pre-spud audits, rig move activities, and safety preparations prior to operations. • Promote a strong safety culture by identifying unsafe acts and conditions and ensuring immediate corrective actions. • Maintain effective communication with management, clients, and crews regarding HSE performance and improvements.
