As a Safety Officer, I am responsible for the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management systems to ensure a safe and compliant workplace. My duties include identifying workplace hazards through regular site inspections, job safety analyses, and risk assessments, and recommending effective control measures in line with the hierarchy of controls. I ensure strict compliance with company policies, national legislation, and international safety standards such as ISO and NEBOSH guidelines. I conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing training to raise safety awareness among employees, contractors, and visitors. I actively monitor work activities to ensure safe systems of work are followed, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), permit-to-work systems, and emergency procedures. I also participate in the development and review of method statements, safety plans, and standard operating procedures. In addition, I investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence. I maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation, including inspection checklists, incident reports, and compliance registers. I collaborate closely with management, supervisors, and workers to promote a positive safety culture, encourage reporting of unsafe conditions, and continuously improve workplace health and safety performance.
