Roles and Responsibilities
As an Instrument Technician, I am responsible for the installation, calibration, and routine maintenance of industrial control systems and field instruments, including sensors, transmitters, and automated controllers. A core part of my role involves leading major overhauls of critical equipment, where I disassemble, inspect, and refurbish complex assemblies such as control valves and actuators to restore them to original specifications. I operate strictly under a Permit to Work (PTW) system, ensuring all tasks are authorized and that safety protocols like Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and gas testing are verified before commencement. Using HART communicators and diagnostic tools, I troubleshoot system faults, perform loop testing, and interpret P&IDs to ensure seamless integration with the DCS/PLC, while maintaining meticulous documentation to ensure plant reliability and regulatory compliance.
Additional Skills/Certification
Expert in HART/Fieldbus, PLC/DCS interfacing, and calibrating transmitters. Skilled in major overhauls of control valves, tube bending, and P&ID reading. Strong focus on PTW/LOTO safety systems, loop testing, and root cause analysis.
