Identify high-risk activities, document hazards, and implement appropriate risk mitigation measures. Perform daily QHSE and rig inspections, enforce the Permit-to-Work (PTW) system, and conduct safety drills related to well control and other operational hazards. Participate in incident investigations, reporting, and act as the focal point for emergency response. Ensure Temporary Dropped Objects checklists are completed prior to critical operations such as casing running and logging. ⸻ Planning & Drilling Operations Supervise development and exploration drilling operations from rig move and site preparation through rig release in onshore environments. Oversee contractors’ day-to-day execution of approved drilling programs and immediately report any deviations, incidents, or significant operational issues to the Company. Provide technical support to resolve drilling problems and manage deviations from approved programs. Supervise critical drilling operations including cementing, casing running and testing, drill-outs, displacements, coring, fishing, and well control operations. Ensure adequate availability of equipment and materials on site. Contribute to the development and optimization of drilling programs to reduce non-productive time (NPT) and improve operational efficiency. Issue written shift instructions to drillers, highlighting potential risks such as losses, kicks, and stuck pipe. ⸻ Technical Expertise Ensure full well control preparedness including BOP testing, leak-off tests, kick sheets, shut-in procedures, and SCRs. Prepare and supervise stuck pipe contingency plans including drillers’ first actions, maximum allowable overpull, and fishing strategies. Supervise rig maintenance activities to ensure all equipment is in safe and operational condition. Supervise drilling fluid operations using spud mud, KCl polymer mud, gel polymer mud, and OBM, including mud conditioning, treatment, and contamination control. Conduct mud lab pilot tests and monitor solid removal equipment (SRE) performance before spud and during drilling. Supervise directional drilling operations, including MWD/LWD, gyro surveys, steerable motors, and RSS to accurately hit targets. Manage loss circulation scenarios (partial, complete, and blind drilling) using LCM and HYDRO-PLUG. Supervise stuck pipe recovery operations, sidetracks, whipstock, re-entry wells, and mechanical barrier installations such as RTTS packers and bridge plugs. Oversee completion activities, tubing space-out and testing, perforation, TCP gun jobs, coiled tubing nitrogen lifting, and fracturing operations.
