Roles and Responsibilities
In my experience as an Instrument Technician, I am responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of field instruments and control systems in an industrial plant environment. I work with pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters, control valves, switches to ensure accurate and reliable process measurement. I regularly perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities, including loop checking, functional testing, and commissioning during plant start-ups and shutdowns. I interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring drawings, and datasheets to execute jobs safely and correctly. Troubleshooting instrumentation faults in PLC, DCS, and field devices is a key part of my role to minimize plant downtime. I strictly follow safety rules, permit-to-work systems, and lockout/tagout procedures, especially in hazardous areas. I coordinate closely with operations, mechanical, and electrical teams to resolve issues efficiently. Maintaining calibration records, maintenance reports, and job documentation is also part of my responsibility. Overall, my role ensures safe plant operation, process reliability, and compliance with quality and safety standards through effective instrumentation support.
