Roles and Responsibilities
Drilling Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of drilling and well construction operations in accordance with the approved well program, company policies, and regulatory requirements. The role involves continuous supervision of all rig activities, ensuring strict compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards to prevent accidents, well control incidents, and environmental damage. The Drilling Supervisor coordinates and manages rig crews, drilling contractors, and third-party service companies to ensure smooth operations and proper sequencing of activities. They monitor drilling parameters, well conditions, and equipment performance, taking timely decisions to mitigate operational risks such as stuck pipe, kicks, losses, or equipment failures. Accurate reporting of daily operations, downtime, Non-Productive Time (NPT), and costs is a key responsibility, along with maintaining detailed drilling records. Additionally, the Drilling Supervisor ensures that all tools, materials, and services are available as per the operational plan and that pre-job safety meetings, risk assessments, and toolbox talks are conducted. They act as the primary link between the rig site and the office, providing technical input, operational updates, and recommendations to optimize performance while maintaining well integrity and operational excellence.
