Roles and Responsibilities
The Drilling Supervisor is responsible for planning, supervising, and executing all drilling operations in accordance with the approved drilling program, company policies, and HSE standards. The role includes overseeing daily drilling, tripping, casing, cementing, and well control activities to ensure safe and efficient operations. The Drilling Supervisor acts as the company representative on the rig, coordinating rig personnel and service companies while ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards. A strong focus is placed on well integrity, BOP testing, pressure control, and continuous monitoring of drilling parameters to prevent incidents and minimize non-productive time. Key responsibilities also include leading safety meetings, enforcing permit-to-work systems, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture on site. The Drilling Supervisor monitors operational performance and costs, optimizes drilling practices, and reports deviations from the plan with corrective actions. Accurate daily reporting, effective communication with onshore teams, and timely escalation of operational risks are essential parts of the role. During emergencies, the Drilling Supervisor leads the response, ensures personnel safety, and maintains control of the well at all times.
