Roles and Responsibilities
The HSSE Department Specialist is responsible for supporting and implementing Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) management systems to ensure full compliance with company policies, national regulations, and international standards. The role includes monitoring day-to-day HSSE performance across operations and providing professional guidance to ensure risks are identified, assessed, and effectively controlled. The Specialist actively participates in the development, implementation, and review of HSSE policies, procedures, and safe work practices. This includes conducting regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify unsafe conditions or behaviors and recommending corrective and preventive actions. The role also involves tracking HSSE performance indicators, maintaining accurate records, and preparing periodic reports for management review. In addition, the HSSE Department Specialist supports incident reporting and investigation processes, ensuring that root causes are identified and lessons learned are communicated to prevent recurrence. The Specialist assists in emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response coordination to enhance organizational readiness. Another key responsibility is promoting HSSE awareness and culture by delivering inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions to employees and contractors. The Specialist works closely with operations, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure HSSE requirements are clearly communicated and consistently applied. Overall, the HSSE Department Specialist plays a critical role in fostering a safe, secure, and environmentally responsible workplace while supporting continuous improvement in HSSE performance across the organization.
