Maintenance & Lubrication: Performs preventive maintenance and lubrication on the main engine, generator, compressor, pump, steering system, and other machinery. Monitoring & Inspection: Checks fluid levels (oil, water), temperature, pressure, and engine operating conditions. Minor Repairs: Assists the engine officer (engineer) in repairing engine damage. Cleaning: Maintains housekeeping in the engine room. Watch Duty: Assists the engineer on duty in daily operations. Main Duties of a Motorman on a Drilling Rig (Offshore/Land): Rig Equipment Maintenance: Maintains power generation, utility systems, main engine, crane, and watermaker. Preventive Repairs: Performs mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs on drilling equipment (drawworks, top drive). Technical: Assists the chief mechanic in component repairs.
