As an HSE Trainer on a $5 billion refinery EPC construction project, I am responsible for designing, delivering, and continuously enhancing comprehensive health, safety, and environmental training programs for a diverse and multicultural workforce that includes employees, supervisors, and subcontractors. I conduct project HSE inductions, task-specific training, and refresher sessions focused on high-risk activities such as working at height, confined space entry, lifting operations, scaffolding, hot work, excavation, and strict permit-to-work (PTW) compliance. I ensure all training materials are aligned with project specifications, client requirements, international standards, and local regulations, while adapting the content to meet the practical realities of site operations. I evaluate workforce competency through written tests, practical assessments, and direct observation in the field, identifying gaps and implementing corrective training when necessary. In addition, I actively promote incident prevention by encouraging hazard reporting, participating in safety campaigns, supporting toolbox talks, and contributing to incident investigations to integrate lessons learned into future training sessions. I maintain accurate training matrices, certification records, and compliance documentation to support internal and external audits. By working closely with construction, engineering, and HSE teams, I help strengthen a proactive safety culture that prioritizes risk awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
